 Ewald Notter, born in Switzerland and trained at Confiserie Sprungli in Zurich, is renowned as a master of his craft. Using a palette of chocolate as a medium for his art, he has an eye for color, an appreciation for texture, and a keen sense for detail. A leading expert in modern day confectionary arts, Notter was the first pastry chef to be inducted into the Pastry Art & Design Hall of Fame. In 1999, he won the first gold medal in the Beaver Creek competition, taking the same award the following year. Also in 2000, Notter was named National Pastry Team Champion and honored as chef of the year, qualifying him to compete as part of the U.S. National Team in Lyon, France, where he and his team placed first. In 2003 and 2004, Notter was honored by the Academy of Hospitality Sciences with the Five Star Diamond Award as "one of the finest Confectionary chefs of the World." |
